Trading Post Pet Supplies

An up and coming pet supply store in Andersonville, Chicago

I’ve had the pleasure of working on a variety of exciting freelance projects during my 6+ years in the design world. One such project is the branding and logo design for Trading Post Pet Supplies. This project is still underway, and so more materials to come in the near future.

Creative Approach

The Trading Post Pet Supplies logo centers around crafting a playful identity that captures the essence of their brand. From the start, my approach was to create something that conveyed a sense of adventure and fun, reflecting the spirited energy of pet ownership and the outdoors.

Color and Type Collaboration

The color scheme was a collaborative decision with the client. They expressed a strong preference for purple, and so we went in the direction of a vibrant, whimsical tone that worked well in a business setting compared to the harsher feel that some overly saturated colors can produce, toeing the line between lighthearted and professional.

As for the typeface, the client expressed an interest in something timeless, with a preference for a serif font. After testing several options, we landed on Baskerville, a typeface known for its elegance and legibility.

More Options

To ensure versatility and flexibility across different applications, I created two versions of the logo—one with the dog and the other featuring a cat version. This allows the brand to appeal to both dog and cat owners, ensuring that their marketing materials feel inclusive without losing the core identity of the Trading Post brand.
